In 1970 he represented Nicaragua at the International Congress of Socialist Youth in New York, where he denounced the violation of Human Rights in Nicaragua. That year along with other colleagues (Filemón Rivera Quintéro “ Macario ”, Sínforoso Bravo " Danielito el Doctor ", Francisco Ramírez " Eulalio " and Crescencio Rosales " Denis ") performs various insurgent tasks in the mountains. He was the first president of the University Council of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (CUUN) for the Revolutionary Student Front (FER) to which he had acceded in the IV Congress in 1969.
He studied biology until the fourth year at the University of León and was responsible for the Federation of Revolutionary Students (FER) of León, the most influential city in the country.Įdgard Munguía, stood out in the fight against the regime of dictator Anastacio Somoza Debayle in the student and university sphere. Munguía's dedication to the performing arts led to the fact that in 1979, after the triumph of the Nicaraguan revolution, the experimental room of the Rubén Darío Theater in Managua bore his name. In the sixties of the twentieth century, Edgard Munguía worked with Alberto Icaza (or Yacaza), a man linked to the plastic arts and theater in which he stood out as a playwright, set designer and director, founder of the theatrical group "Atelier de Teatro Rubén Darío". He had three brothers, Juan Álvaro Munguía Álvarez, Juan Ernesto Munguía Álvarez and Javier Munguía Álvarez and two sisters Elena Munguía Álvarez, Verónica Munguía Álvarez. Edgard Munguía was the son of Juan Munguia Novoa, a Nicaraguan lawyer and poet.
